Phthalic Anhydride (PA) is an organic compound. It is a colourless, crystalline product, solid at low temperatures and liquid above 130°C. It is used in the production of plasticizers.

Industrial uses of Phthalic Anhydride
Intermediate used in the production of:
- Phthalate Plasticisers, used to produce flexible PVC products like coated fabrics, roofing membranes, swimming pool liners and cables
- Unsaturated polyester resins, used to produce fiberglass-reinforced plastics
- Alkyd resins, used in paints and lacquers for housing, furniture and industrial machinery
- Aromatic polyester polyols, mostly used to produce rigid Polyurethane foam (PUR and PIR)
- Sacharine
